About Me

Sarah Nui - Room 12 Kaiako

Kia Ora, Talofa, Kia Orana and Hello! I'm Sarah Nui and I'm the very proud teacher of Room 12.

A Bit About My Teaching Career

I have been part of the Rangikura Team for the past 7 years and previous to this taught at St Pius X in Titahi Bay and Holy Family School in Cannons Creek. I have also had two stints teaching in Hong Kong in both Chinese Language Schools and an International School (Discovery Bay on Lantau Island).

Teaching is my passion and I look forward to every single day teaching and learning alongside our tamariki. Despite the length of time I have been teaching I can very safely say each day is never the same as the next!

I see myself very much as a learner too and am constantly trying to innovate on my approach to teaching to motivate the naturally inquisitive minds in my class. Our latest innovation is Genius Hour, The Great New Zealand Read Aloud & The Daily 5 - with the goal being to increase student voice and agency.

Me Outside the School Gates

I am married to an awesome gent named Myk and we have a full on 11 year old son. We spend our afternoons and weekends outdoors. Biking, swimming, hiking, camping. After spending extensive time in big grey polluted cities I really do appreciate the natural beauty of our country and try to make the most of it - especially in our warmer months!

I love music, singing and dancing - I have a great bunch of friends who (tolerate and) join in with me!

I am happy to answer any further questions. Please leave a question in the comments box below :)

Nga mihi
Sarah Nui
